A bit more about me

My birthplace, Chesterfield, England, was the starting point of my lifelong love affair with sports. I was a versatile athlete, dabbling in every sport I could, embodying the spirit of a jack of all trades, master of none.

Between 16 and 18, I completed my Higher Sports Leader Award (HSLA), which included a day at a local special school. I remember working with a young boy in the swimming pool who was afraid to leave the wall. After successfully getting him to walk across the pool, I felt joy when the PE teacher complimented me. In that moment, I realised I wanted to work with students with intellectual or physical disabilities. After that, I volunteered every Monday night at a sports club for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

I attended Leeds Metropolitan University, earning my BSc and later pursuing a PGCE in Secondary Physical Education, qualifying as a Health and Physical Education (HPE) teacher in 2012. I then taught in Kuwait at The British School of Kuwait and, upon returning to England in June 2015, I explored various schools to learn different teaching practices. But something was missing.

On December 27, 2015, I moved to Australia. After traveling, I found Sunshine Special Developmental School in Melbourne, where I worked for five and a half years before joining Ascot Vale Special School. I returned to Sunshine SDS after two years and continue to teach HPE.
